Producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe of “So You Think You Can Dance” chatted with Ryan Friday to explain his “Freudian slip” on the show, referring to his possible re-emergence as Producer on “American Idol.”

If you weren’t tuning in to “So You Think You Can Dance” on Wednesday, judge Nigel had a major slip of the tongue. While commenting on a dancer’s performance he said, “This is the first time we’ve seen it on ‘American Idol’ this season.” Oops, wrong show! This has sparked rumors that Lythgoe might be re-claiming his title as Producer on “American Idol.” So is he, or isn’t he?

“I’ve figured out I’ve got so much to talk about, you know, with [Saturday's] “National Dance Day,” and the Dizzy Feet Gala coming up on the 21st of August at the Shrine and the tour of “So You Think You Can Dance” that if I confirmed that I was doing ['American Idol'], people would just want to talk to me about Idol, if I denied I was doing it people wouldn’t want to talk to me at all,” he said coyly. Maybe he’ll tell us at Saturday’s “National Dance Day?”

Lythgoe  began “National Dance Day” as a way to combat obesity in America. “68% of the population over twenty is either overweight or obese,” he said. After thinking about all the monotonous exercise he thought, “How much more fun is it to dance? So I suggested we have a ‘National Dance Day’ here in America, and I wrote to the First Lady Michelle Obama.” Way to get the job done!

In addition to making National days possible, Lythgoe is going on tour with the “So You Think You Can Dance Crew” beginning September nineteenth. To grab your tickets, click here.
